Public Health Update

Acupuncture is Essential.

We are doing everything we can to keep our community healthy and safe.

When substantial information about the COVID-19 pandemic became available to us, we quickly and voluntarily closed our clinic doors after our last day of seeing patients in person on March 14th, 2020 to prevent transmission in our facility and local community. Since so many of our patients rely on acupuncture & Chinese herbal medicine for healthcare, this was a decision we did not make lightly. The City of Philadelphia announced new business activity restrictions on March 16th, and issued a new Stay-at-Home Order on March 23rd, along with the new statewide order. Philadelphia entered Pennsylvania’s green phase of reopening with restrictions on June 5th, 2020.

Acupuncture In Motion remained closed for a total of five months up until August 13th, 2020 so that we could both practice and encourage physical distancing for ourselves and our patients, and develop both short- and long-term contingency planning for reopening as safely as possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We spent this time carefully researching evidence-based guidance (from qualified community leaders and public health authorities), and updating the clinic space and procedures. Since August 13th, we have reopened gradually and at a reduced capacity, per the City’s guidelines.

East Asian Medicine (EAM) is a complete medical system. At AIM, we specialize in the management of symptoms related to chronic diseases, illness prevention, and reproductive health. We are committed to continue to do our part in promoting health equity and providing comprehensive care in our community. This important recent report illustrating the structural factors contributing to the disproportionate socioeconomic impact of COVID-19 on the most vulnerable in our communities outlines much of what we live in our daily lives, and witness firsthand in our clinical work. In keeping with our mission, we will continue to operate, at a reduced capacity, per public health recommendations by the CDC and community advocates.

Acupuncture In Motion’s updated COVID-19 procedures & policies are outlined in our COVID-19 Preparedness & Response Plan. This plan is compatible with the City’s November 20, 2020 updated restrictions to business activity.
